Purpose

The purpose of this privacy notice is to inform users of the City of South Jordan’s website (this “Website”) regarding the collection and use of personally identifiable information as defined in Utah Code 63D-2-102.

By submitting personally identifiable information, you understand that the City, its entities, or its third-party agents may use the information to respond to your inquiry, to provide you with the service or information you requested, or to send you emergency information or other important notices. The City does not disclose, sell, trade, or rent your personally identifiable information to outside parties.

Collection of Other Information

Like most websites you visit, this Website may automatically collect standard statistical information. This information includes data like your IP address, browser type, pages accessed, and duration of visit. This information may be used for qualitative and quantitative research to improve this Website.

Third-party Services

The City and elected offices contract with third parties for certain services such as web traffic monitoring, website optimization, form submissions, workflow tools and financial transactions. Some user accounts created on contracted third-party systems may be linked with other third-party websites, such as social media networks. To link your accounts, you must provide your display name or user ID to those third-party websites.  You may also be required to engage in an authorization process with each of those websites. We do not receive or store your password or other information from those websites.

Whenever you use a third-party service, you agree to that service’s privacy rules notice. This Website uses YouTube API Services to help retrieve and display YouTube videos and video information. The data used is all publicly available information, including the following for videos and playlists: titles, descriptions, IDs, channel IDs, and thumbnails.

Required Disclosure of Information 

The City is subject to disclosure requirements for public records it maintains under the Utah Government Records Access and Management Act. The City will comply with all sections of the Utah Code and other federal laws that control record disclosure and confidentiality of personally identifiable information.

Additionally, the City may be required to disclose certain information to law enforcement. Suspicious emails, electronic threats, unauthorized access or any personally identifiable information relating to illegal activity may be provided to the appropriate authority.

Changes to this Privacy Notice

The City may change this notice at any time by posting revisions on this Website. This privacy notice is not intended to, and does not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.
