The South Jordan Community Arts Champion Award 2026- Sandbox Theatre Company
The 2026 award recipient was an easy choice for our Arts Council this year. Their love for the arts community is a prime example of someone who deserves this award. Our 2026 recipient is a community-focused performing arts organization. Known for its collaborative spirit and welcoming environment, this company brings together talented performers, directors, designers, and volunteers who share a passion for live theatre. This group had a vision to create a place where creativity thrives and where people of all backgrounds can participate in the joy of theatre. Their guiding idea—often summed up in the phrase “Where people learn to play”—reflects the company’s belief that theatre should be both a creative playground and a place for artistic growth. The company has collaborated with the South Jordan Arts Council to produce six shows and is currently working on the 7th. These shows bring accessible, family-friendly entertainment to audiences in South Jordan City. As a nonprofit organization, they rely on the dedication of volunteers, artists, and community supporters. Through performances, partnerships, and educational opportunities, the company strives to enrich the cultural life of our area and inspire both new and experienced performers to step onto the stage. Today, they continue to serve as a creative hub for local artists and audiences—celebrating imagination, collaboration, and the magic of live theatre in the South Jordan community.
The South Jordan Community Arts Champion Award 2025- Erin Grimshaw
The 2025 South Jordan Community Arts Champion award recipient was an easy choice for our Arts Council this year. Her love for the arts community is a prime example of someone who deserves this award. Our 2025 recipient is a senior at Bingham High School, where she is serving as the very first Student Body Officer of Art. She was recently named as Bingham's Sterling Scholar of Visual Arts. She has received over 100 awards and recognitions for her art, including many Best of Shows and other top awards. She was recently the recipient of 6 awards at the Springville Museum of Art’s 53rd All State High School Art Show, including Outstanding Student of the Year, Juror's Choice Award, and 1st Place 4th Congressional District, and her artwork will hang in the US Capitol Building for a year. She has accumulated nearly 700 community service hours while in high school, with 330 of those hours directly related to using her artistic talents to help others. She is always involved in the South Jordan arts. She was our first-ever “teen” artist on display. She has competed many times in the SoJo Art Show, SoJo poster contest, and SoJo Chalk Art Festival, and always attends art events like the SoJo Art Swap Gala.
Works from artists around the valley are displayed in a rotating spotlight at The Gale Museum and City Hall for several weeks. The exhibit features media such as oil, charcoal, acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor, photography, and 3D art.

Wednesday classes are FREE to the public.
WEAR?
No special clothes are needed for the classes. Just wear your modern casual clothes and some comfortable flat shoes. We only dress up for our balls and galas.
WHAT?
You need not have any previous dance experience. If you can walk, count and turn about, you can vintage dance. Vintage dances are group dances, so you aren't left alone on the dance floor. We teach each dance before the music is played and prompts your steps while you are dancing to the music.
WHO?
Anyone 14 and older, unless previous permission has been granted for younger people. You don't need to bring a partner, although it is more enjoyable if you do.
"SOUTH JORDAN SOUL SPAGHETTI" on Towne Center Dr.
For this project I decided to use energetic colors and lines to inject vibrancy and playfulness to this urban environment of rectangular shapes and neutral tones.
As a lifelong saxophone player, I've found this method of painting allows me to turn off my thinking mind and feel into the movements my hand naturally wants to make, not unlike improvising jazz.
The colorful, looping noodles are a metaphor for the diverse and unique paths of Life we all live, and the unexpected connections and entanglements we experience together as humans collaborating in reality.
The specific palette was sourced from the pops of color in the landscaping and business signs nearby, resulting in a cohesive feeling that ties the environment in with the design.
Thank you for the opportunity, it has been an honor to create this piece for the South Jordan community!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Trevor Dahl aka "Good Happy Stuff" (b. 1995, Northern California, lives and works in Salt Lake City, UT) is a self-taught painter, muralist, and illustrator devoted to exploring the convergence between his inner and outer worlds. Painting and other creative techniques serve as an honest rendering of his psyche, materializing spiritually-charged images that are simultaneously playful, visceral, contemplative, and absurd. Guiding viewers with a tender vulnerability, Trevor’s work invites them to navigate their own imaginations and find freedom to coexist with and accept reality around them. As an SLC artist of over ten years, his work is quickly gaining traction and can be found on public walls throughout the valley, as well as in private collections and projects with well-regarded companies and brands.
