[ARCHIVED] Supporting Public Art in South Jordan

Graffiti in South Jordan

The City of South Jordan is proud to offer the “Round it Up for the Arts” program, a simple yet impactful way for residents to support local arts initiatives. Launched in 2016, this program allows utility customers to round up their bills to the nearest dollar, with the extra cents donated to fund various public art projects throughout the city.

What Your Donations Support

Funds raised through the “Round it Up for the Arts” program go directly to the South Jordan Arts Council, a dedicated group of residents appointed by the City Council. This council is responsible for deciding how the funds are used to enrich our community through art. The donations help finance several key projects, including:

Theatrical Productions: Bringing live theater to our community with two major productions each year.

Utility Box Wraps: Transforming everyday utility boxes into vibrant pieces of public art.

Public Murals: Adding color and life to public spaces with beautiful murals.

Sculptures: Installing stunning sculptures throughout the city for all to enjoy.

Arts Programming: Providing the community with arts education through youth art classes and camps and adult art classes.

Arts Events: Bringing the art community together through events like the Art Show, Art Swap, Chalk Art, Plein Air, Candy Windows, and more.

The Role of the South Jordan Arts Council

The South Jordan Arts Council plays a crucial role in fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts among residents. Comprising local volunteers, the council provides support and guidance in implementing various arts programs and events. Their mission is to create opportunities for individuals and families to experience the arts through education, participation, public works of art, and performance.

How You Can Support the Arts

Supporting the arts in South Jordan is easy and flexible. Here’s how you can contribute:

Budget Billing: Sign up for budget billing and include a set donation amount for the arts each month.
