Truck Crashes into Oquirrh Lake Following High-Speed Incident; One Hospitalized in Critical Condition
SOUTH JORDAN, UT (April 17, 2025)— At approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, a truck traveling northeast at a high rate of speed down Duckhorn Drive failed to stop at the intersection with Kestrel Rise Road. The truck then struck a parked vehicle before flipping over and landing in Oquirrh Lake.
The cause of the high speed is still under investigation. The crash resulted in damage to both public and private property, including a fire hydrant, K-rail barriers, road signage, and a light pole.
The driver of the truck, who was the only occupant, was pulled from the submerged vehicle by several Good Samaritans who witnessed the incident. These individuals were passing through the intersection when the truck sped by and crashed. They entered the lake without hesitation, retrieved the individual from the water, and performed CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived. The driver was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Emergency crews removed the vehicle from the lake, and all affected roads were reopened to the public by 6:00 p.m.
South Jordan City officials extend sincere gratitude to the heroic individuals who acted quickly and selflessly to render aid. The incident remains under investigation.
